๐ฆ Bulk Grants
Bulk Grants applies one role change to many members in a single operation โ paste a list of members or target everyone holding an existing role, run it, and watch the progress live. It's the tool for backfills, migrations, and cleanups that would take hours by hand.
Overviewโ
- Add or remove a single role for many members at once
- Target an explicit member list โ one entry per line, or a CSV upload โ or everyone with a source role
- Operations run in the background; you can leave the page while they process
- Recent Operations shows live progress, per-member outcomes, and failure reasons
Configurationโ
To run a bulk operation:
- Open your project in the Fren One webapp.
- Select the Discord server you want to configure.
- In the sidebar under Agent Configuration, select Role Manager, then the Bulk Grants tab.
- Fill in the "New bulk operation" card and select "Run operation".
New bulk operationโ
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Operation | Add role (default) or Remove role. |
| Role | The role to add or remove. Required. |
| Apply to | A list of members (default) or Everyone with a role. |
| Members | Shown for list targeting. One user ID or username per line, or select "Upload CSV". A live count shows how many entries you've provided. |
| Source role | Shown for role targeting. Every member with this role gets the operation applied. Required. |
Selecting "Run operation" opens a confirmation with a summary of what's about to happen. Confirming starts the operation โ it runs in the background, so you don't need to keep the page open.
Recent Operationsโ
Every operation appears in the Recent Operations list, which refreshes automatically while an operation is running:
- Progress โ
{processed}/{total}processed, updating live - Status โ pending, running, completed, completed with errors, or failed
- Outcomes summary โ for example "3 already had it ยท 2 not found ยท 1 failed"
- Per-member breakdown โ expand an operation to see who wasn't found in this community, who failed (with the reason), and who already had โ or didn't have โ the role
How it works in Discordโ
The agent works through the member list in the background, adding or removing the role for each member in turn. Members who already had the role (or didn't have it, for a removal) are counted separately rather than treated as errors. The agent needs the Manage Roles permission, and its role must sit above the target role in the hierarchy โ grants on roles above the agent fail and show up in the breakdown.
Saving your changesโ
Bulk grants are an immediate action โ there is no page-level Save bar. Selecting "Run operation" asks for confirmation, then the operation starts right away and runs in the background.
Best practicesโ
- To migrate members between roles, run two operations: add the new role to Everyone with a role (the old one), then remove the old role the same way.
- Prefer user IDs over usernames in pasted lists โ IDs can't be ambiguous or renamed.
- Check the outcomes summary after large runs; "not found" entries usually mean typos or members who have since left.
A bulk Remove role starts as soon as you confirm โ there is no undo. Double-check the role and target before running it.
Troubleshooting
The operation completed with errors?
- Expand it in Recent Operations โ each failed member is listed with a reason.
- Failures are often hierarchy issues: the agent's role must sit above the role it's granting or removing.
Members show as "Not found in this community"?
- The entry didn't match a current member โ check for typos, or the member may have left the server.
Progress seems stuck?
- Large operations take time; the list auto-refreshes while the status is running. Leave it in the background and check back.
