🤖 AI Post Drafting
The AI Workspace can write X posts for you — a single tweet or a full thread — grounded in what's actually happening across your communities. Ask for a draft in chat, review the suggested action, and save it straight into your Tweet Scheduler queue.
Overview
- Ask the workspace chat to draft a tweet or thread on any topic
- The AI reads your project data first — trending topics, recent X mentions, message search, and analytics — before composing
- The draft arrives as a "Suggested action" card; nothing is saved until you confirm it
- Confirmed drafts land as Drafts in the Tweet Scheduler — the AI never schedules or posts anything on its own
- Every confirmed action is audit-logged
The AI Workspace at a glance
The AI Workspace is a project-level chat — you'll find it in the sidebar under Workspace. It's available to the project Owner, Project Admins, and Analytics Admins; answers are scoped to the communities you can access.
| Control | Description |
|---|---|
| Scope selector | Chat about the whole project, a single platform, or one community. |
| Model picker | Fast, Quality (the default), or Reasoning. |
| Credits | Chats draw from a shared project credit pool, with per-user limits. A status bar shows remaining credits and context. |
| Sources | Chips under each answer show what the AI read: Messages, Events, Analytics, Members, Support tickets, Discord roles, Trending topics, and X mentions/followers. |
For X specifically, the workspace can read your recent brand mentions (author handle, followers, text, sentiment, link) and your follower count over time — the same data your Listening setup collects.
Drafting a post
- Open your project in the Fren One webapp.
- In the sidebar under Workspace, select AI Workspace.
- Set the scope so your X account is included (project-wide, the X platform, or the account itself).
- Ask for what you want — for example, "draft a tweet about our latest release" or "write a 3-tweet thread summarizing this week's community highlights".
The AI reads the relevant project data first, then composes the text — one entry for a single tweet, or up to 25 tweets for a thread.
The "Suggested action" card
Instead of acting immediately, the AI shows a "Suggested action" card titled "Draft X post", with a one-line summary of the text (for example, Draft a tweet: "…" or Draft a 3-tweet thread: "…") and a "Save draft" button. If the AI proposes several actions, the cards paginate ("Card N of M").
The card follows the workspace's proposal rules:
- Nothing happens until you select "Save draft" — dismissing the card discards the draft entirely.
- Proposals expire after 10 minutes. An expired card can't be confirmed; just ask again.
- The card can't be edited inline. Confirm it as-is, then edit the text in the Tweet Scheduler.
- Confirming requires Owner or Project Admin — the same permission as composing in the Tweet Scheduler. An Analytics Admin can ask for the draft but sees "You don't have permission to run this action." when confirming.
- On confirm, Fren One re-checks your current role and the card's expiry before executing, and writes an audit event. The card then shows a status badge: Done, Dismissed, Expired, or Failed.
Where the draft lands
Confirming saves a Draft row into the Tweet Scheduler queue for the chosen X account — "Saved a draft for {community} — review and schedule it in the Tweet Scheduler."
- The draft is text only. Add images in the Tweet Scheduler composer.
- The save respects your project's draft cap.
- The AI never schedules and never posts. Publishing only happens when a person schedules or posts the draft in the Tweet Scheduler, where the 280-character limit is also enforced.
Workspace chat drafts are grounded in your community data — mentions, trends, and messages — but they do not apply your Brand Voice settings and do not query the project knowledge base. Knowledge-base-grounded, brand-voice-styled drafting powers the other surfaces instead: inbox suggested replies, the Slack "Generate reply" action, and the Brand Voice test drive.
X data in reports
The workspace's report generator uses the same data access. The Weekly community health report includes your X activity: mention volume and its change, mention sentiment distribution, follower total and growth, and top X mentions by follower count. Custom reports can request X data too — there's no separate X-only template.
Best practices
- Scope the chat to your X account before asking — the AI grounds the draft in that account's mentions and trends.
- Be specific about format: "a 3-tweet thread" or "a single tweet" shapes the output directly.
- Treat the saved draft as a starting point — polish wording, add images, and set the time in the Tweet Scheduler.
- If the tone matters more than the data, draft from a Brand Voice surface instead, or rewrite the workspace draft in the composer.
Troubleshooting
"You don't have permission to run this action." when confirming?
- Confirming a "Draft X post" card requires Owner or Project Admin. Analytics Admins can request drafts but can't save them — ask a project manager to confirm the card.
The card shows "Expired"?
- Proposals expire 10 minutes after they're suggested. Ask the AI to draft again.
The draft doesn't sound like your brand?
- Expected — workspace chat drafts don't apply Brand Voice settings. Edit the draft in the Tweet Scheduler, or use a Brand Voice-powered surface for styled writing.
