This guide explains how community members can verify their token ownership using Fren One's Token Gating feature and gain exclusive holder perks.

What is Token Verification?​

Token verification proves that you own a specific amount of tokens, granting you access to exclusive benefits such as:

  • Special Roles: Get a verified holder role with visual distinction
  • XP Rewards: Earn bonus XP points for holding tokens
  • Private Group Access: Join exclusive token-holder only groups
  • Recognition: Stand out as a committed community member
Safe and Secure

Verification is completely safe. You'll never be asked to share private keys or seed phrases. You only prove ownership by sending tokens to yourself!

Prerequisites​

Before starting verification, ensure you have:

  • ✅ The required amount of tokens in your wallet
  • ✅ A wallet that supports the token's blockchain
  • ✅ A small amount of native tokens for gas fees (ETH, BNB, MATIC, etc.)
  • ✅ Access to your wallet (MetaMask, Trust Wallet, Phantom, etc.)

Verification Process​

Step 1: Start Verification​

Type the verification command in the chat to begin the verification process.

Default command: /holder

Note: Your community admin may have set a different command (like /verify, /hodler, /check). Check the pinned message or ask an admin if unsure.

Find the Command

If you're not sure about the verification command, check:

  • Pinned messages in the group
  • Welcome message when you joined
  • Community announcements
  • Ask a moderator or admin

Step 2: Provide Wallet Address​

The bot will respond asking for your wallet address in private chat.

The bot will prompt:

📝 In private chat, please send your wallet address in this format:

Steps:

  1. Open your wallet app (MetaMask, Trust Wallet, Phantom, etc.)
  2. Copy your wallet address
  3. Open a private chat with Fren One bot
  4. Paste your wallet address and send

Use Your Own Address

Always use the wallet address where you hold the required tokens. Never use someone else's address or an exchange address.

Step 3: Complete the Verification Transaction​

The bot will ask you to send a small amount of the token to your own wallet.

Why send to myself?

  • Proves you control the wallet (only you can send transactions)
  • Doesn't require sharing private keys
  • No tokens are lost (they go from your wallet back to your wallet)
  • Works universally across all blockchains

Steps:

  1. Open your wallet app
  2. Navigate to the Send/Transfer section
  3. Select the token you're verifying
  4. Send to: Your own wallet address (the same one you just provided)
  5. Amount: As specified by the bot (usually a small amount like 0.001 tokens)
  6. Confirm and send the transaction
  7. Wait for blockchain confirmation

What you'll pay:

  • Gas fees only: Small network fee (usually $0.10-$2.00 depending on blockchain)
  • No token loss: Tokens return to your wallet
Blockchain Confirmation

The bot monitors the blockchain in real-time. After you send the transaction, wait a few moments for confirmation. This usually takes:

  • Ethereum: 30-60 seconds
  • BSC/Polygon: 5-10 seconds
  • Solana: 1-5 seconds
  • Arbitrum/Optimism: 10-30 seconds

Step 4: Receive Perks​

Upon successful verification, users will automatically be assigned the perks configured by the community admin.

Perks you may receive:

  • ✅ Role Assignment: Special holder role appears next to your name
  • ✅ XP Reward: Bonus XP added to your account immediately
  • ✅ Group Access: Invite link to exclusive token-holder group

The bot will confirm successful verification and list which perks you've received.

Example confirmation:

Private Group Access

If you receive a group invite link, click it immediately to join the exclusive holder group. Invite links may have expiration times.

Troubleshooting​

Common Issues and Solutions​

"Token not found" or "Insufficient balance"

  • Verify you have the required amount of tokens
  • Check you're using the correct wallet address
  • Ensure tokens are in your wallet, not on an exchange
  • Wait for pending transactions to complete

"Transaction not detected"

  • Ensure you sent tokens to your own address
  • Check you sent the correct token (not a different token)
  • Wait longer - some blockchains take time to confirm
  • Verify transaction succeeded on blockchain explorer

Bot not responding

  • Check you're sending messages in private chat with the bot
  • Ensure bot is online and functioning in the main group
  • Try the command again after a few minutes
  • Contact a moderator if issue persists

"Verification failed"

  • Double-check contract address and blockchain in settings
  • Ensure your wallet has the minimum required tokens
  • Verify transaction was confirmed on the blockchain
  • Try verification process again from Step 1

Not enough gas for transaction

  • You need native tokens for gas (ETH, BNB, MATIC, SOL, etc.)
  • Add a small amount of native token to your wallet
  • Gas fees are typically $0.10-$2.00
  • Use a faucet for testnet tokens if testing

Perks not received after verification

  • Wait a few moments - some perks may take time to apply
  • Check your role was assigned in group member list
  • Verify XP was added in leaderboard/stats
  • Contact admin if perks are missing after 5 minutes

Important Security Notes​

Never Share These

NEVER share with anyone:

  • ❌ Private keys
  • ❌ Seed phrases (12/24 words)
  • ❌ Wallet passwords
  • ❌ Recovery phrases

Official verification only requires:

  • ✅ Your public wallet address
  • ✅ A self-transaction (to your own wallet)

Recognizing Scams​

Be aware of fake verification attempts:

  • Request to send tokens to admin/moderator wallet
  • Ask for your private key or seed phrase
  • Request to connect wallet to unknown website
  • Promise of "bonus tokens" for verification
  • DM from "admin" offering special verification
  • Urgent deadline or pressure to verify quickly
  • Requests for payment to admins

✅ Legitimate Verification:

  • Official bot in the main group
  • Send tokens to your own wallet only
  • Public wallet address sharing only
  • No requests for private keys
  • No payment to admins or moderators
  • Official verification command in group
Verify Identity

If someone DMs you claiming to be an admin offering to help with verification, verify their identity in the main group first. Real admins don't DM first and don't need your private information.

What if I sell some tokens after verification?

  • Perks may remain or be revoked depending on community settings

Can I verify with tokens on an exchange?

  • No - you must hold tokens in a personal wallet you control
  • Exchanges don't allow you to send to yourself for verification
  • Transfer tokens from exchange to personal wallet first

How much does verification cost?

  • Only gas fees for the transaction
  • Typically $0.10-$2.00 depending on blockchain
  • No tokens are lost - they go back to your wallet

Do I need different wallets for different blockchains?

  • Multi-chain wallets (MetaMask, Trust Wallet) support many chains
  • Solana requires Solana-specific wallet (Phantom, Solflare)

What if verification is taking too long?

  • Normal wait time is 10 seconds to 2 minutes
  • Check blockchain explorer to see if transaction confirmed

Can I verify from multiple wallets?

  • Some communities allow multiple verifications
  • Each verification may grant additional perks

What happens if I change wallets?

  • You may need to verify again with the new wallet address
  • Old verification from previous wallet may be invalidated
